The near month-long “Coming Together As One: No Money No Talk” pop-up art installation has finally come to an end! They say, all good things come to an end. And we’re glad to know that those who popped by have learnt something good.

Why? Because co-operatives are about doing well and doing good. Talk to us if you still have more questions about co-operatives or the co-operative movement in general – we’ll be more than happy to share!

In the meantime, are you sure you already know everything you need to about the #coopsiol pop-up? Here’s AT LEAST ONE thing you have missed at the pop-up:

#1 C.R.E.A.M

Know what I’m sayin’? *Cash Rules Everything Around Me // C.R.E.A.M. get the money*

The entire installation revolved around the theme of money and there was this phrase at the side saying, “Cash Rules Everything Around Me”. Other than having the word “cash”, its abbreviation is also an actual song by the Wu-Tang Clan named “C.R.E.A.M” which is related to money.

Did you know, the man behind the muffled voice is an important figure towards Singapore’s nation building? Make a guess!

He is the 6th President of Singapore and a co-operative champion. He is Mr S R Nathan.

In the audio inside the installation, you could hear him saying about how he depended on co-operative all his life and how credit co-operatives helped him meet his life goals – from the time he started working, his marriage and his house.

Read more about Mr S R Nathan’s co-operative story.

Simple. The “coop” in #coopsiol stands for co-operatives or co-op in short. And because we are as attention seeking as the “No Money No Talk” striking exterior, we wanna Shout It Out Loud to raise awareness about credit co-operatives in a more casual tone.

When people spot a co-operative next time, they will go “co-op siol”. It simply means that’s a co-op!

Here you go! Did you actually spot these items when you’re at the pop-up?
