Here comes the Annual Co-operative Leaders’ Conference (ACLC) in April.

This year, we are at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 6 to 9 April 2019 at Lotte Legend Hotel Saigon.

The theme for the conference is ‘Forging Ahead as One’, which aims to evolve a collaborative culture among the co-operatives to take on greater transformation and creativeness towards an innovative future.

Documenting my 5th ACLC over the next 4 days via SCOOP Portal. Stay tuned for more!

I am personally eager to hear from Mr Andrew Chow about Raising Your Profile in the Marketplace because who does not want to know how to grow in your skillset right? To me, I felt that it is not just about how to market yourself but also how you can be aligned and value-add your workplace too.

After an hour of the break at the hotel, rehearsal started for Janice and I as we are going to emcee for the conference tomorrow. Some of the speakers were there to test out their slides too!

Sneak preview of the conference room.

After the rehearsal, the speakers together with distinguished guests had a filling meal at Mandarin Restaurant and no, we ate Vietnam Cuisine, not Chinese cuisine.

But first, let’s take a selfie.

My favourite dish at dinner was:

*drum rollllllllllllllllllllllllllllll*

Special seafood spring rolls. *yummy*

Check out the carving work of the chef. A for Effort!

After dinner, some of us decided to explore Apartment 42 Nguyen Hue where all the cafes and indie shops are located.

Consolidated cafes and indie shops house under one roof at Apartment 42 Nguyen Hue.

It was Ms Shena Foo, Member of SNCF Executive Council who spotted The Alley. We went in enthusiastically to try their Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Pearl without any hesitation.

The drink seems to contain more milk though, and the pearl was extremely sweet. If you are a sweet tooth person, you will definitely enjoy this drink.

From left: Ms Shena Foo (Member of SNCF Executive Council), Mr Low Choon Chye (SNCF Scholar), Ms Cindy Wong (Senior Manager, Non-Credit, SNCF) and me (cannot wait to drink my bubble tea)

While exploring Apartment 42 Nguyen Hue, we chance upon The E.Y.E Saigon where it sells tote bag and customised t-shirts.

The various questions on each design of the bag provoked your thought of the motivation of purchasing a bag.

#saynotoplastic vs #saynotobrandedbag. Which side are you on?

It was just a simple bag design yet it raises an eyebrow to certain social norms too. Isn’t art an amazing showcase?

After a good walkabout around the area, we walk back to our hotel to get ready for tomorrow’s conference 🙂

Looking forward to being energised by the conference tomorrow, so read on for more updates!
