Day 2 of the conference starts and the youthful colleagues went for the Coopyouth Gathering and Orientation
The ice-breaker given to us were:
- Get a piece of paper
- Decorate it in a way you think represents you (pictures, words, etc)
- Include your name, home country and a cool fact about you
The card was collected, shuffled and randomly distributed back to each participant. From the card given by the game master, we have to find out who is the person and introduced each other by explaining the card.
We also have a session whereby we brainstormed ideas together to help each other on how to network and engage in a conference setting. For example, why are we holding back on sharing our thoughts during a conference and how we can be more open in our sharing.
The experienced participants shared their personal encounter where they were snubbed by their older peers during their own pursuits of leadership, faced more discouraged moment but they did not give up. Hence, this is how they become who they are today. They urged us not to give up on our dreams despite the negative comments given!
After a hearty lunch, we proceed to the Youth Network Assembly where I witnessed my first election of the Youth Network!
After the sharing about Youth Network and what they have been doing, the participants were split into four groups according to their interests of the Youth Network’s Strategic Plan’s topics such as Communication, Participation, Consultative process and Coordination.
The participants had a good time exchanging their ideas and rest assured that all the ideas will not remain as ideas but the Committee will take a serious look into it and implement into their #coopyouth Manifesto.
We have a good break before the much-anticipated Opening Gala Dinner:
ICA – Global Conference and General Assembly is co-organised by Ms Monique F. Leroux, President of the International Co-operative Alliance and Dato’ Haji ABDUL FATTAH Haji Abdullah, President of the Malaysian National Cooperative Movement. Hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the participants from all around the world who have the same vision for co-operative gathered together for ONE purpose – which is to see the co-operatives grow strong and greater! The Gala Dinner was graced by YB Dakto Seri Hamzah Bin Zainudin, Minister of Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism.
The exciting cultural performance was showcased that showed the multi-culture of how truly Asia is.
The highlight of the dinner is none other than the dinner itself:
We end off the dinner with an extremely sweet treat:
I looked forward to have another round of good session at the conference, to learn how o put people at the centre of development, to see the potential in each of our colleagues and bring the best out of it!
Stay tuned for more tomorrow as I bring the latest update daily! 🙂
